Lettuce in March

Late March is harvest time in our cold frames. The lettuce on the right was planted and cut several times last fall. It rests during December and January, but then re-emerges in February. The cold frame is protected by a plexiglass cover during the winter.

While warm-weather vegetables can't be planted until Memorial Day (I cheated by planting one week before the magic date), it's great to begin to see our cool-weather crops happy and healthy in the early spring.
